Clean energy, cleaner water — for underserved communities
We provide affordable UV‑C LED water purification for schools, kiosks, clinics and refugee settlements—cutting the cost and pollution of boiling and eliminating the need for chemicals.

Our Story
Founded by Ahumuza Bill, a passionate student innovator from Makerere University, UV‑Safisha is a youth‑led social enterprise born from a desire to make a lasting social impact. Our journey began with a simple but powerful goal: to tackle the critical issue of unsafe drinking water, especially in rural communities, refugee settlements, health centers, and schools. Inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), we are on a mission to build an inclusive future through equitable access to clean water—powered by technology, collaboration, and empathy.
The Problem We’re Solving
Chronic underfunding of water infrastructure leads to widespread dependence on lakes, rivers, and ponds. Existing purification methods are unsustainable, unaffordable, or impractical—boiling requires wood fuel, chemicals are costly, and conventional UV systems are expensive and require electricity. Many households and institutions are left with no safe solution at all.
Our Innovative Solution
Our Business Model
Groups of five families co‑invest to purchase a single purifier, making it affordable at ~€30 per household.
Partnerships (e.g., WaterAid, UNHCR) to distribute purifiers at a subsidized rate (~€120) to vulnerable populations.
Direct to schools, small businesses, and peri‑urban households at ~€150 per device.
Our Journey & Milestones
Our Vision for the Future
We envision a world where every family—regardless of location or income—has access to safe drinking water. Our long‑term goal is to continue improving our technology, expand our manufacturing capabilities, and serve millions of people across Uganda and East Africa. By reinvesting in R&D, improving cost structures, and deepening our impact through partnerships, we aim to become the leading provider of decentralized water purification technology in Africa.
